I'll tell you the story about Rev. Abraham Alex Tanuseputra,
senior pastor of the largest church in Indonesia - an example
of persevering Task Prayer. Tanuseputra had a young son
who was afflicted with cerebral palsy. He could not speak
or crawl. His condition could not be treated medically.
When Rev. Tanusputra came to Korea, he was encouraged after
listening to my sermon. With a vision of a fully recovered
son, he started praying with hope. Every day for three years
Rev.Tanuseputra laid hands on his son and prayed, "Please
heal my son," a Task Prayer. Three years passed without
any change and Rev. Tanuseputra reached an anxious point.
After four years of praying, Rev. Tanuseputra prayed with
an unrestrained heart and afterwards when he looked at his
son the child cried out, "Daddy!" and smiled.
The child cried out 'Daddy' with a bright smile - just as
the father had envisioned. The child was completely healed,
went to school, graduated from high school, college, the
Indonesian Military Academy and afterwards enrolled in seminary.
He became a pastor and now assists his father in his pastoral
duties. There would have been no miracle if Rev. Tanuseputra
had given up early. He prayed until his son was healed.
