Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
What is faith like?
Mark 11:20 ~ 11:25

2015-08-23

Just as there is salt in all the food we eat, there must be faith in every aspect of our lives. By using faith we can understand all the things in our lives and overcome all sorts of trials and difficulties. Therefore in order to live a victorious Christian life, we must clearly know what faith is.

1. From whom faith is given?

1) The Bible states "you should think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you." (Rom. 12:3)
2) Faith is something given to us by God. Faith is something needed in every part of our lives, but God has given us that faith ever since we were born. (Eph. 2:8)

2. Why faith is big or little?

1) Jesus compared the smallest faith to a mustard seed. (Matt. 17:20)
2) Faith comes through hearing the word of God and being filled with the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 10:17)
3) Faith grows as we experience and overcome difficulties. Therefore it is of utmost importance for us to make a decision to live by faith. (Heb. 10:38)

3. The power of faith

1) Jesus compared the power of faith to the power that moves mountains saying, "Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ¡®Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them." (Mk. 11:22~25)
2) Doubt always follows faith. However if we overcome our doubt and constantly move forward with faith, we will see the miracles of mountains being moved. (Mk. 11:23~24)
3) Dream the dream of a mountain being moved and proclaim it. (Num. 14:28, Psalm 21:2)

To the disciples who were scared when facing the storm, Jesus said "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" As we live our lives, we too meet all sorts of trials and storms in our lives. However, if we use the faith God has given us, we can stop the storms in our lives. Therefore, we must not despair and collapse in front of our trials. Trials make our faith grow and we must view them as opportunities and be thankful for them.
