Come to Me, All You Who Are Burdened
Matthew 11:28 ~ 11:30

2016-08-07

There is no one freed from laborious and heavy burdens of life. People live tiring lives by carrying heavy burdens. These burdens of life are fundamentally from sin. Because Adam and Eve ate from the tree that God commanded them not to eat, the ground was cursed and human beings were able to eat through painful toil all the days of their lives. Jesus came, carried all our sins for us, and died on the cross. He is inviting us and saying, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Therefore, anyone who comes to Jesus can get rid of heavy burdens and find rest.

1. People who were invited by Jesus

1) Jesus said, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart." A gentle heart means to get rid of doubts and to have firm faith. Humble is to absolutely obey God. (Matt. 11:28~29)
2) Abraham firmly believed in and obeyed the word of God. (Gen. 22:9~12)
3) Jesus said, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matt. 11:30)

2. The Lord who carried our burden

1) Jesus carried our sins and transgressions, and died on the cross. (Isa. 53:6)
2) Jesus took up our infirmities and carried our diseases. (Matt. 8:16~17)
3) Jesus made us rich by carrying our poverty. (2 Cor. 8:9)
4) Jesus delivered us from death and gave us eternal hope. (John 5:24)

3. Life being with God

1) God said, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you." (Isa. 43:1~2)
2) In addition, God said, "When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will
not set you ablaze." God is always with us. (Isa. 43:2~3)

Conclusion

God created us. In addition, He took away our debts of sins for us and is our guardian who is always with us. Therefore, we must not be discouraged or fall in despair no matter what kind of situation we may face. We must rely on the Lord who carries our burdens every day and move forward with faith.

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

    1 Corinthians  10:13
