Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Jesus Wept
John 11:17 ~ 11:44

2017-11-26

Martha, Mary, and Lazarus lived in a village called Bethany. One day, Lazarus got sick. Martha and Mary sent someone to Jesus to tell Him that Lazarus got sick. After Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it," He stayed two more days at the place where He was staying. Two days later, Jesus said, "Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe," and left to Bethany.

1. If the Lord had been here
1) Martha and Mary said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died," and cried sorrowfully. They thought that if Jesus had arrived early, He would have healed Lazarus. They thought it was too late. (John 11:21)
2) Jesus saw them and shed tears. (John 11:33~35)

2. In front of the tomb
1) When Jesus arrived at the tomb of Lazarus, four days have passed since Lazarus died and he was already in the tomb. This situation shows despair. (John 11:38~39)
2) Jesus delivered us from death and gave us eternal life. (John 6:56~57)

3. If you believed, you would see the glory of God
1) If we do not believe in God, we cannot experience the works of God. (James 1:6~7)
2) Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" We experience the works of God through faith. (John 11:40)

Conclusion
Lazarus' death and resurrection were planned by God. By raising Lazarus back to life, God showed that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Today, there are many people like Lazarus who is tied to death and becomes a slave to death. Jesus is commanding them, "Lazarus, come out." Anyone who replies to Jesus' word with faith can be delivered from the authority of death and receive eternal life.
