Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
David, A Man of God
1 Samuel 17:31 ~ 17:54

2018-02-18

When the Israelites were attacked by the army of the Philistines, David had a dream by collapsing Goliath, "The whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves." God worked through David who moved forward with dreams and gave amazing victory to the Israelites. God works through those who have dreams and faith. Therefore, we should not lose dreams no matter what kind of situations we face.

1. Israel attacked by the Philistines
1) Before the Philistines and the Israelites were about to fight, Goliath came forward from the camp of the Philistines as the person who provokes a fight and insulted the army of Israel. (1 Sam. 17:8~10)
2) Saul and the entire people were filled with fear when they saw Goliath. (1 Sam. 17:11)

2. David who went out in the name of God
1) David volunteered to fight against Goliath. Because David killed a lion and a bear with the help of God when he was a shepherd, he believed that God will help him when he fights against Goliath. Likewise, experiences have amazing power. (1 Sam. 17:34~37)
2) David moved forward to fight against Goliath in the name of God. (Ps. 146:3~5)

3. The duel of David and Goliath
1) Goliath looked down on David because he was young and small. (1 Sam. 17:42~44)
2) David considered Goliath as a lion or a bear and was not afraid of him. (1 Sam. 17:36)
3) David moved forward with a sling in his hand and faith in his heart. (1 John 5:4)

Conclusion
As we live our lives, we face numerous problems like Goliath. However, people who believe in God do not need to fall in despair or be afraid. If we move forward by believing in God and having dreams, Almighty God will work and help us overcome every hardship and grant us victory. People of God gain victory not with visible weapons, but with faith toward God.
