Introduction : An illustration that a cow and her calf are plowing under a yoke
○ In order to be under the yoke of our Lord
1. Learn to be humble 1) God was humble enough to come as a human being (Jn 1:14) 2) He lived a low life as a human being (Lk 2:17, Mt 13:54-55, 8:20) 3) He suffered silently (Isa 53:3-4,7)
2. Learn how Jesus cast away His worldly desires 1) The cravings of sinful man - He was tempted to use the power of the Son of God and satisfy His appetite (Mt 4:3-4) 2) The lust of man´s eyes - He was tempted to be honored through the power of the Son of God. (Mt 4:6-7) * Dr. Woosuck Hwang counterfeited a scientific thesis for honor. 3) The boasting of what he/she has and does - He was tempted to be tied up with the devil for power, wealth, and fame (Mt 4:9-10) - Sternly Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
3. Learn to obey 1) Throughout His life, He did not serve Himself but only God. (Mk 14:36) 2) He obeyed God even to death on the Cross. (Phil 2:6-8)
4. Learn to trust in God 1) He completely depended on God (Ps 22:4-11) 2) He committed His soul to the Father - His last prayer on the Cross (Lk 23:46, Jn 19:30)
Conclusion : The Lord and carried our burdens such as sins, filth, sickness, the curse, the suffering of life, the despair of death under the yoke of the Cross. Then He tells us to come under His yoke, live an easy and light life, and have peace in heart. However, in order to be under the yoke of the Lord and follow Him, we must be in accord with Him. That is, we must live a life with humility, no greed, obedience, and dependence.
