Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Give and Take, Sow and Reap
2 Corinthians 9:6 ~ 9:9

2008-01-06

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever."

Introduction: The reason why God created human beings was because He wanted us to be with Him as a family. But God suffered badly because of the first forefather, Adam, who fell into the temptation of the devil and rebelled against God. God made a counterplan in order to save humankind and sent Jesus into the world. God sent His son to gain many children. Jesus became a kernel of wheat fallen to the ground so that He could bear much fruit. This is the beginning of the "Give and Take, Sow and Reap" principle.

1. Give and take, sow and reap
    1) Give, and¡¦ (Lk 6:38).
¨Ø It will be given to you.
        ¨è A good measure.
        ¨é Pressed down.
        ¨ê Shaken together.
        ¨ë Running over.
¨ì It will be poured into your lap (Ge 8:22).
    2) Seed that fell on good soil.
        ¨Ø It produced a crop 30 times
        ¨è 60 times
¨é 100 times what was sown (Mt 13:23).

2. The principle that can be applied to a life of faith.
    1) A mustard seed was planted and became a large tree (Mt 13:31-32).
¨Ø The principle of the kingdom of God.
¨è When we sow a seed of faith, we will reap generously (Gal 6:7-8).
    2) The blessing of those who sow (2Cor 9:6-9).
¨Ø Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously
            will also reap generously.
¨è The blessing of those who sow (2Cor 9:8).
¨é God helps those who sow (2Cor 9:10-11).

3. When confronted with life´s problems (Mt 17:20).
    1) The healing of a boy with a demon (Mt 17:14-19).
    2) Small and big matters in our lives.
¨Ø A mountain has no life while a mustard seed has life.
¨è We can see a mustard seed with our own eyes.
¨é We must sow a seed in order for life to work (Jn 12:24).
    3) Sow a seed of faith.
¨Ø Show your faith (Jas 2:17; Mal 3:10).
¨è Have a dream and faith and sow them (Php 4:19; Heb 11:6).
¨é Expect miracles and pray (Mt 7:7-8, 11).

Conclusion : We vaguely say, "I believe." However, instead of expecting what we believe to happen, our heart is full of doubt. Firm faith will only be given when we use the principle of "Give and Take, Sow and Reap."
