Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Froth and Loneliness
Luke 15:11 ~ 15:32

2009-10-18

I spent my childhood in the countryside. To go to a town, I had to cross a few small streams, where I found great bursts of foam on the edge as the water curved round the rocks. Human life is just like the froth of bubbles.

1. The prodigal son and froth

1) The prodigal son, who was blinded by froth (Lk 15:12-13)
2) Loneliness that follows when the froth is burst (Lk 15:14-17)
3) The repentant prodigal son comes back home (Lk 15:18-21)

2. The froth and loneliness in our lives

1) Wealth, prosperity and fame are froth that will all disappear (Ecc 1:2-11)
2) Inner sadness and loneliness (Jer 2:19, Ecc 2:23, Pr 15:13)
3) Jesus has become our trustworthy friend
¢Ù Even when we were sinful
¢Ú Even when we were unclean
¢Û Even when we were suffering from disease
¢Ü Even when we were in trouble in life
¢Ý Even when we were in absolute loneliness of death (Jn 15:14-16)

3. True happiness that the prodigal son experienced

1) The best robe ¨C The Lord's robe of righteousness (Lk 15:22-24, Ro 3:23-24)
2) The ring ¨C The ring of the Holy Spirit (2Co 1:22, Gal 4:6)
3) Sandals ¨C The grace of God (Eph 6:15, 2:8-9)
4) Welcoming feast ¨C The joy in Heaven
- He received happiness when he was completely left alone in despair and desertion.
(Ps 16:11, 3Jn 1:2)
5) The opposition of the older brother ¨C the legalistic view (Lk 15:28-30)

When we are lost, deserted, and wretched, we can only turn to God our Father and Jesus, who have delivered us from the absolute loneliness and become our eternal friend.
