As earthquakes occurred several times on the Korean Peninsula this year, we are keenly aware that our country is no longer in an earthquake safe zone. Because small earthquakes increase in frequency, the need to come up with earthquake policies is on the rise. There are times when earthquakes occur in our lives. Our lives are shaken by not only with personal problems, but also with social problems.
1. The spiritual earthquake happening in our mind 1) If societies are shaken by selfishness and greed, many people go through pain. (Ps. 55:22) 2) Various conflicts that stem from arrogance and selfishness can bring earthquakes within churches. Churches become firm when they have cross-centered faith. (1 Cor. 1:10)
2. The foundations being shaken and destroyed 1) We cannot build the foundations of life on legalistic faith. (John 8:10~11) 2) We cannot build the foundations life on ritualistic faith. (Matt. 23:13) 3) God who is a rock of ages is our only foundations of life. (Ps. 91:1~3)
3. The cross of Jesus as the eternal foundation 1) Jesus' cross is our only eternal rock in life. (Ps. 91:14~16) 2) We must invite Jesus into our life through the fourth dimensional spirituality. (Prov. 4:23) 3) We must live our lives according to the purpose that God has made us. (Eph. 1:4~6)
4. God the Father who raises us up 1) God the Father raises us up when we fall and collapse. (Heb. 12:2~3) 2) Through sufferings, we think about "where we are from, where we are going, and why we are living." (Heb. 12:3~8)
Conclusion Buildings that were built without an earthquake-proof design cannot withstand earthquakes and collapse. It is the same with our life. If our foundations of life are not firm, we can fall numerous times and get hurt when facing earthquakes. Our earthquake-proof design in life is to have Jesus as the cornerstone of life and to live our lives by serving God. A life like this will not collapse no matter what kind of situations it may face.
